11:07 am on 20 February 2013

A Japanese team will join an expanded Pacific Rugby Cup tournament from next month, alongside the Fiji Warriors and Samoa and Tonga A teams.

Each of the teams will play six matches against Super Rugby development teams and academies in Australia and New Zealand.

The three Pacific Island teams will then play each other later in the year prior to the northern hemisphere Test window.

The Pacific Nations Cup has already been expanded this year to include the USA and Canada.
