Two men in Fiji charged with impersonating election officers

Two men in Fiji have been appeared in court charged with impersonating election officers.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri says the two men were arrested following police investigations into allegations of people posing as election officers in Ba.

"Two people were brought in, interviewed and were charged with crimes of impersonation. And yesterday afternoon they appeared before the magistrates court in Lautoka. They were then remanded by the magistrate to the Lautoka corrections facility until next week when the case will be called again before the court."

Atunaisa Sokomuri says police cannot yet confirm whether the men were affiliated to any political party.
