The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption says it is investigating complaints that men allegedly impersonating election officers tricked residents in Ba into signing up to a political party.

The police say two men have been remanded in custody in Lautoka, after appearing in court on charges of impersonating election officers.

A spokesperson for the Commission Against Corruption, Cegu Babana, says the organisation has not received any information on whether the men are affiliated to any politcal party.

"The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption is conducting investigations in regards to allegations made by certain residents in Ba of representatives of a particular political party. They're going around collecting signatures and claiming to be government officials."

Cegu Babana says the organisation cannot comment further until its investigations are completed.
