King of Tonga welcomed at Government House in Wellington

The King and Queen of Tonga have been given a formal welcome at Government House in Wellington by the Governor-General, Lieutentant-General Sir Jerry Mateparae.

King Tupou the Sixth and Queen Nanasipau'u are on a five-day visit to New Zealand.

It's the king's first official visit to New Zealand since he took the throne last year.

He is scheduled to meet the Prime Minister John Key, and the Labour Party leader, David Shearer.
