Fiji Bati assistant coach Joe Rabele says the national team is shaping up well eight months out from the start of the Rugby League World Cup.

Fiji's Australian-based players will assemble in Sydney this Saturday for a training session, with Jarryd Hayne, Akuila Uate, Petero Civoniceva and Lote Tuqiri among the big names expected to attend.

Joe Rabele says the commitment of those players is huge for Fiji heading into the global tournament.

"It's a big boost here in Fiji - especially our local comp - to see all these high-profile players show their availability to represent Fiji in the coming world cup. For the last world cup I know we made the semi finals and we haven't always got these players - now all these players want to come and represent Fiji, we will have a good team to compete at this year's world cup."
