Fiji's government is refusing to make any comment over a prolonged beating of two men in Fiji, recorded on video and released on the internet two days ago.

The government's spokesperson, Sharon Smith Johns, says at this stage, the government is making no comment on the matter.

She says police are investigating the incident, and the government will take its lead from that.

Ms Smith Johns says the government will not be responding to calls for an independent investigation.

Fiji's police department has also failed to comment any further on the investigation.
