Sport: New Caledonia name extended squad for final FIFA qualifiers

11:31 am on 8 March 2013

New Caledonia coach Alain Moizan has named five French-based players in an extended squad to take on New Zealand and Tahiti in the final Oceania Football World Cup qualifying matches later this match.

Les Cagous stunned New Zealand at last year's Nations Cup tournament in Honiara, but loss the home leg of their world cup qualifier 2-0 in Noumea.

With just two matches remaining, the territory trail the All Whites by three points in the group standings, making their March 22 encounter a must-win.

Moizan and the locally-based squad members assembled in Paita at the weekend and will meet every weekend in the lead-up to the final two matches.
