Temotu premier lashes out at Solomon Islands government

7:02 pm on 22 March 2013

The premier of Solomon Islands' Temotu province has lashed out at the government for turning a deaf ear to the provincial government when dealing with the region's development priorities.

Father Charles Brown Beu told the Temotu Assembly this morning during its first sitting since the deadly February earthquake and tsunami that his administration is hampered by financial and skilled staffing shortages.

He says the provincial government also faces difficulties in implementing his development priorities.

The premier said the situation is compounded by the Solomon Islands government's reluctance to take him and his administration seriously and to positively consider the many requests he has made in writing and in person.
