The European Investment Bank has agreed to help examine safety improvements, upgrading of terminal facilities and more efficient power use at airports in the Cook Islands and Samoa.

The 1-point 1 million US dollar technical assistance programme is for key investments that are expected to improve tourism, regional integration and economic development.

The agreements were signed in Auckland at an energy summit between Samoa Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and the Cook Islands Prime Henry Tuakeu Puna, and European Investment Bank Vice President responsible for lending in the Pacific, Pim van Ballekom.
