Fiji's first polymer banknote is entering circulation today.
The new five Fiji dollar banknote features a clear window bearing an outline of an iTaukei man.
The paper version of the notes will continue to be legal tender until June the 30th this year.
"According to the Central Banking website, the five dollar note will be the smallest denomination note in the Fijian currency, after the removal of the two dollar note (31st March) which has been replaced with a coin."
The Fiji central bank says it expects the new banknotes to last up to three times longer than the paper version.
