American Samoa's governor cancels overtime at airport for govt workers

10:56 am on 11 April 2013

The American Samoa Governor has ordered the elimination of overtime incurred by government employees who work after hours servicing flights in and out of Pago Pago International Airport.

Lolo Matalagi Moliga's directive was outlined in an April the 4th letter to four cabinet directors including the attorney general, who oversees the immigration office.

Samoa News reports Lolo says effective from this month, there will be no more overtime incurred and departments serving after hour flights can hire part time employees.

Polynesian Airlines and Inter Island Airways also operate the inter Samoa routes after hours including the weekend.

All airlines are billed by the government for any after hours work.
