Manu Samoa first five Tusi Pisi is hoping to bring an experienced head to the Hurricanes backline on Saturday night against the Blues in Auckland.

Pisi's will make his first start of the season in the playmakers role, with Beauden Barrett dropping back to fullback in place of Andre Taylor.

Pisi was still playing in Japan when the Hurricanes lost the reverse fixture in Wellington at the start of the season and says he just wants to help wherever he can.

"I've been coming off the bench for the first few games I've been here - I was just finding my feet - and now I feel confident to add value to the team by starting. I've been given the opportunity now and it's just about adding to the team really. Just like last week - there were a couple of guys who were called in last minute and they did really well - so that's the confidence that we have in our squad."
