But the Fijians will get a second to chance to challenge the hosts when they meet for the 3rd place play-off - due mainly to Nigeria's win over Germany.
The Fijians team needed Nigeria to beat Germany to secure a play-off spot as Fiji had a superior run rate compared to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Vanuatu beat Ghana by eight wickets last night.
The Melanesians had already secured a spot in the final but the win last night means they finished the group phase unbeaten.
They will meet Nigeria at Gaborone.
