Fiji is set to get a boost to hopsital care with the help of an Indian medical company currently visiting the country.

Fiji Broadcasting Corporation reports the The Apollo Hospitals Group from India is currently touring Fiji's hospitals and health centres, with a view to introducing tertiary medical care at a similar standard to what is offered in India.

Fiji's High Commissioner to India, Yogesh Karan says medical and health care is of primary importance and there is a need to strengthen it.

Mr Karan says the money patients spend on treatment and visiting India could be minimised if those kinds of services are available locally.
