Solomons considers London diplomatic mission

The Solomon Islands government is considering opening a high commission in London as part of a policy to bolster links with Britain.

The Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo told Britain's Minister of State Hugo Swire in Honiara last week that his government is committed to rejuvenating its relationship with London.

He says opening a high commission in London would also help the Solomons stay closer to the Commonwealth.

Mr Swire, who earlier last week announced that Britain wanted to re-establish links with Pacific nations, says his government stands ready to support the Solomons in establishing a London mission.
