American Samoa govt mulls over idea of buying Hawaiian Airlines shares

The American Samoa government is mulling over the idea of buying shares in Hawaiian Airlines.

The purchase by American Samoa government of stock in Hawaiian Airlines was discussed at a meeting of territorial leaders last week.

According to government officials, the idea behind purchase is to give the territory a legitimate voice in the affairs of the airline.

For years there has been debate between local leaders and the airline as to the price structure of airfares to and from American Samoa.

The territory's government believing fares should be based on distance travelled in the same way as other fares offered by the airline.
