An investigation is underway in American Samoa to find out how jail inmates got alcohol which sparked fighting in the cells of the Territorial Corrections Facility.

The commissioner of Public Safety, William Haleck, says an inmate who was on work release is believed to have brought the alcohol into the jail.

He says an investigation has also been initiated to find out how he was able to bring the alcohol into the facility.

Commissioner Haleck says if police or correctional officers are involved, they will be disciplined and could lose their jobs.
