CNMI court asked to reinstate arrest warrant for former governor

The Office of the Public Auditor in the Northern Marianas now wants the Superior Court to re-instate the original arrest warrant issued against former governor Benigno Fitial.

The warrant is for Mr Fitial's role in an alleged conspiracy to shield former attorney general Edward Buckingham from being served a penal summons in August last year.

The OPA's legal counsel George Hasselback yesterday filed a request with the Superior Court to have the penal summons that is currently pending for Mr Fitial abandoned and the original arrest warrant issued by Associate Judge David Wiseman reinstated.
