Samoa police have a suspect in the vandalism of phone cables belonging to BlueSky Samoa.

The company's chief operating officer Toleafoa Douglas Creevey told Talamua online the suspect is assisting police with investigations.

Last month broadband services in the capital Apia were disrupted when two major 200 pair cables in a manhole inside the Blue Sky compound at Matafele were cut.

The damage cost BlueSky over 21-thousand US dollars in repairs.

In March cables along Lelata Bridge were also cut, also causing a major disruption in services.

Bluesky's estimated losses from that incident which includes 26 hours of interrupted service was over 35-thousand US dollars.

Toleafoa says police are investigating if the two incidents are connected.
