A 5.9 quake struck off a remote area of Solomons Islands on Friday, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The United States Geological Survey said the tremor, at a depth of 13 kilometres, struck in the Santa Cruz Islands, about 93km southwest of Lata.
There have been no reports of damage.
In February the remote town of Lata was hit by a devastating tsunami after a 8.0 earthquake.
The tsunami left at least 10 people dead, destroyed hundreds of homes and left thousands of people homeless.
