US Army commander dumped at Marshall Islands base

7:14 pm on 23 May 2013

The United States Army has dumped its commander, Colonel Shannon Boehm, at its missile testing range at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

It is the first time in the nearly 50 years of operation at Kwajalein that the commander has been removed before his two-year tour of duty is completed.

A public affairs official at the base says Lieutenant General Richard Formica, who heads the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, had lost confidence in Colonel Boehm.
