The Northern Marianas Department of Public Safety now holds the distinction of having the only fire rescue boat in the entire Pacific Region, outside of Hawaii, after the purchase of a $600,000 US dollar vessel.
The custom-built 35-foot multi-mission work boat arrived in the CNMI last week.
It is compliant with the standards of the National Fire Protection Association.
It was funded by a grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security under the Port Security Grant program, with help from the US Coast Guard.
