CNMI visitor arrivals up 6 percent in April

Visitor arrivals to the Northern Marianas in April rose six percent compared with the same time last year.

Statistics from the Marianas Visitors Authority show arrivals to the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota registered 32,521 visitors compared to 30,691 in April last year.

The report shows arrivals from Japan in April fell 18 percent to 9,438 visitors.

The Visitors Authority says arrivals from Korea rose three percent in April to 9,645 visitors, as the Korea market maintains its steady growth.

Meanwhile, arrivals from China surpassed Japan for the first time since 1997, jumping 44 percent in April to 10,305 visitors.
