The US Secretary of Defence, Chuck Hagel, has announced the deployment of a fourth Navy submarine to Guam.
The Marianas Variety reports Mr Hagel told a security summit in Singapore that the deployment of the Virginia-class fast attack submarine is part of America's commitment to peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
In the speech, he also noted the increased co-operation between New Zealand and the US following the frigate HMNZS Te Mana's visit to the Navy base at Guam.
