Tonga finished the Junior World Rugby Trophy in fifth place after beating Portugal 27-7 in Temuco, Chile.
The Kingdom missed out on a place in the final after losses to Canada and Japan in pool play, either side of a win against Uruguay.
Their final placing is a drop of two spots from their 2012 effort, and means they will again contest the second tier tournament next year.
