ACP states fail to reach decision on EU sugar quotas

6:52 am on 11 June 2013

The Joint Africa, Caribbean and Pacific group of states has confirmed that a meeting with the European Union has failed to reach a decision on extending sugar quotas by 2020.

The ACP's Secretary General, Alhanji Muhammad Mumuni, says it is unfortunate that no decision was made after the meeting with the European Council of Ministers on Friday.

But Mr Mumuni, says the EU has taken note of the concerns expressed by ACP states and he hopes a concrete decision can be made by the EU soon.
