The US Army Recruiting Office is reporting an increase in the number of high school graduates in American Samoa wanting to join the Army.

An Army Recruiter Staff Sergeant Lauie Laban-Ilalio says they are seeing a 20 percent increase in the number of students wishing to enter compared to this time last year.

She says the main reason cited by applicants for wanting to join the Army is for financial assistance.
