A South Korean company has plans of a multi-million dollar tuna cannery and loin factory at Doma in West Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands.

The Solomon Star reports that an advisor with Dongwon Industries, Ju-hyuk Daniel Kwon, is in Honiara for talks this week.

Dongwan, one of the world's largest fisheries companies, is the owner of the StarKist cannery in American Samoa.

Mr Kwon says Dongwan is willing to partner with Solomon Islands to develop its fisheries sector and build its economy.
