Sport: Fiji remain confident of PNC chances

11:45 am on 19 June 2013

The Flying Fijians rugby coach Inoke Male still believes his team can win the Pacific Nations Cup.

The Melanesians are behind Canada and Tonga in the standings going into this Wednesday evening's clash against the USA in Nagoya.

Fiji are coming off a convincing win against the Classic All Blacks while the US have a short turnaround after losing to the 'Ikale Tahi in Los Angeles at the weekend.

A win could see Fiji move within a point of the table-topping Canucks with a round to play and Inoke Male says they're approaching the game with a positive mindset.

"Unfortunately we lost to Canada but the outcome of the game [on Wednesday] will depend the winner of the PNC. We are trying to get a bonus and maximum points so we can stay and contest with the title."

Fiji will stay in Japan ahead of their final PNC match in Tokyo at the weekend.
