Tahiti have likened Friday's Confederations Cup football clash against World and European champions Spain to climbing Mount Everest.

The Oceania winners were outclassed 6-1 by Nigeria in their opening match at the tournament on Tuesday.

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque says he will rest a number of front-line players for the Group B match-up in Rio De Janeiro, including captain Iker Casillas, but insists the French territory will be treated with the utmost respect.

Tahiti goalkeeper Mickaël Roche says playing against the top team in world football is the ultimate challenge.

"It's normal to be excited. I like to say that we're going to face the Mount Everest so we've got to be tough in our mind to know that we have to climb that Everest and if we don't reach the top the thing is you've got to try to go the highest you can go. It's going to be an honour for us to play against Spain. We've tried to keep in the same way, showing that we've got a big heart and we want to keep playing football."

Group B rivals Nigeria and Uruguay will also square off in the later game in Salvador.
