A survey of members of the Chamber of Commerce in Saipan in the Northern Marianas has found significant opposition to governrment plans for a casino on Saipan and electronic gaming machines at hotels throughout the CNMI.

In the survey, about 69 percent of members were against the casino gambling measure, which is now before the legislature.

The opposition to the measure that would allow electronic gaming machines was less but still more than 50 percent.

The Chamber is the largest business organisation in the CNMI with about 160 members.
