10:56 am on 30 August 2013

Samoa have already surpassed their previous placing of 11th at the youth netball championships by advancing to the play-off for 9th or 10th in Glasgow.

Samoa took care of the hosts Scotland 50-35 and will meet Fiji in a bid for 9th, after they beat Namibia 67-49.

Fiji finished ninth at the last tournament four years ago.

The Fiji captain Raijieli Daveua told Planet Netball she's pleased they overcame a slow start against Namibia.

"I feel happy and excited and I thank the girls for what they did today even though we didn't have a good powerful start they did step up and we look forward for tomorrow's game and I thank the almightly God for giving us strength and power."

Elsewhere Papua New Guinea beat Singapore 49-46 to advance to tonight's play-off bid for 13th and 14th against Northern Ireland.
