1:22 pm on 23 August 2013

Municipal police in New Caledonia have suspended their strike planned for today.

The officers have asked for the transfer of their boss, Johann Gognetti.

The officers were to rally today outside the public sector's human resources office.

However, those targetted by the action had moved to another building, prompting the police not to meet outside an empty place.

One of their leaders has told local radio a strike warning has to state where the action was to take place and they didn't want be outside empty premises.

The police officer also demand an end to what they call abusive disciplinary procedures and a return to a true dialogue.
