CNMI fills public school teaching vacancies

6:31 pm on 22 August 2013

The Northern Marianas Public School System says it has succeeded in filling all 31 teaching positions that became vacant at the end of the school year.

However, the Education Commissioner, Rita Sablan, says a few more teachers are still needed to occupy newly vacated post in some schools.

She says the 31 newly hired teachers will replace those who resigned before the summer period.

She could not immediately say how many positions were recently vacated but said that majority are for Saipan schools.

At Saipan Southern High School, for instance, two teachers have just resigned and one did on Tinian.

Classes in public schools will open on September the 3rd.
