Fiji political party wants meat imports monitored

4:20 pm on 20 August 2013

Fiji's People's Democratic Party has urged the government to monitor the quality of meat products imported into the country.

The party says poor quality meat products are being sold at the supermarkets despite earlier bans.

It says meats like lamb flaps have up to 70 percent fat content and this is a threat to people's health.

The party is also calling for the government to lift a ban on American poultry, and allow turkey and other quality meats into the country.
