Papua New Guinea's health secretary, Pascoe Kase, says he will push for breastfeeding mothers working for the Department of Health to be allocated rooms for breastfeeding during working hours.
This is one of the outcomes of a breastfeeding campaign launched on Wednesday.
About half of the Department of Health's staff are women.
Mr Kase has also appealed for other government departments and public institutions to do the same and ensure mothers have a conducive environment for breastfeeding.
Mr Kase says breastfeeding is the most cost effective way to protect the health of a baby.
