Australia has now flown more than 200 asylum seekers from Christmas Island to Manus Island in Papua New Guinea since the government announced a new policy for dealing with would be refugees trying to reach Australia by boat.

The sixth group since the policy change on July the 19th was flown to Manus this morning.

The 39 adult males included 35 Iranians, two Pakistanis and two people the Department of Immigration says claim to be stateless.

The department continues to say there is no cap on the number of people who can be sent to PNG and it says transfers will continue on a regular basis.

It says it will send women, children and unaccompanied minors as soon as appropriate arrangements are made.
