Papua New Guinea have begun the inaugural Asia Pacific Rising Stars Trophy tournament in ominous fashion, ending day one undefeated after victories against East-Asia Pacific and Australia Indigenous XI.
In the morning match the the Barramundi's took on their fellow regional members, EAP which also fielded three PNG players, Charles Amini, Lega Siaka & Riley Hekure.
EAP were rolled for just 81, with the Barras crusing to victory inside 13 overs.
In the later match, Tony Ura blasted 68 off 48 balls as PNG chased down the Indigenous team total of 129 for 7 with an over to spare.
Andrew Hicks nabbed seven wickets across both matches and was understandably pleased with his Barramundi's debut.
"Personally this is my first tournament for PNG so obviously it was a pretty good start. I think I'm going to struggle to trump that but I'm just looking to do my job for the team, take a few early wickets and go on from there, keep it tight as well."
