The American Samoa governor Lolo Matalasi Moliga has proclaimed August the 17th as StarKist Samoa Day to mark the importance of the tuna cannery to the territory's economy.
August the 17th is StarKist's 50th year in American Samoa.
StarKist is one of the largest employers in American Samoa, with nearly one in five wage earners working there.
