In Tonga, a trial date for the Kali Fungavaka manslaughter charges is expected to be set today at the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa.

Six accused men, including five policemen have each been charged with manslaughter and an alternative charge of grevious bodily harm, relating to the death of the New Zealand police officer in Tonga last year.

Matangi Tonga online reports police inspector Kelepi Hala'ufia and police constables Salesi Maile, Tevita Vakalahi, Manu Tu'ivai and Fatai Faletau with civilian Semisi Kalisi-tiane Manu are to appear before Justice Charles Cato today for arraignment of a trial date.

On the 5th of July, Justice Cato committed three of the accused Mr Faletau, Mr Tu'ivai and Mr Vakalahi for trial after a Crown appeal against their initial release by a Magistrate.
