Sport: Pacific swimmers well down field on day four of World Champs

Tahiti's Anthony Clark was the best finishing Pacific athlete in the men's 100m freestyle heats on day four of the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona.

Clark touched home in 52.87 seconds to finish in 58th place, eight places above Guam's Chris Duenas.

Papua New Guinea's Stanford Goren Kawale was a further three place back, Giordan Harris from the Marshall Islands recorded a personal best time of 58.50 and Palau's Shawn Dingilius Wallace was unable to break the one minute barrier.

In the men's 200m IM, Rezne Wong from the Northern Marianas and Fiji's Douglas Miller finished 48th and 50th out of 50.

Fiji's Caroline Puamau was the top Pacific finisher in the 50m women's backstroke with a time of 30.36 seconds, ranking her 39th of 51 finishers.
