The chair of the proposed Fiji Green party says she is confident it will have the 5,000 members needed to register before the next election.
The Green party was automatically de-registered when it failed to meet a 28-day deadline for paying registration fees under Fiji's Political Party Registration Decree.
Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau says all efforts are being made to ensure the proposed party is ready to campaign for next year's election.
She says the Decree makes it mandatory to get a percentage of voter ID-registered signatures from all regions of the country.
"We are in the process of gathering signatures. It's a very difficult process because we have to gather from the four sub-regions of the country. And then we have got to gather the funds to apply. Then set up office in the four sub regions, and on top of that state our assets and all the signatures that signed. It's a very expensive process so we're starting with the signatures and gathering the signatures as we speak."
Bernadette Rounds-Ganilau says members of the proposed party are not yet being named.
