Fiji's national carrier, Fiji Airways, and the Air Pacific Group have reported after tax profits of 7.5 million and 9.5 million US dollars respectively for the fiscal year that ended on March the 31st.

"The Air Pacific Group comprises Fiji Airways, Pacific Sun, and a 39 (38.75) percent stake in the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa."

The Fiji Times reports the results are an improvement on the company's performance in the 2011/2012 fiscal year, where Fiji Airways and the Air Pacific Group each posted after tax profits of six million US dollars and 5.7 million respectively.

The Chairman of Air Pacific's board of directors, Nalin Patel, told the newspaper that given the company initially expected to make a loss during the 2012/2013 fiscal year, it is pleased with the results.

He says three years ago the company experienced the biggest loss in its history, so to sustain an operating profit is a good result.
