Critically injured Tonga brawl victim watched by police

1:31 pm on 23 July 2013

The police in Tonga say they are watching the condition of a critically injured man very closely, but can't say when more serious charges may be laid in relation to an attack that saw 147 people arrested.

An ex Tonga College student, 22-year-old Taniela Halahuni, remains in a critical condition in hospital following Friday's attack by students of Tupou College.

About half of the 147 current and former pupils of Tupou College were released on bail yesterday, while the other half remain in custody as the police continue their investigations.

All are charged in relation to damage of property.

The police say they are happy with how the investigation is progressing.

The 147 are due to appear in court again on Thursday.
