Guam's US Congresswoman has proposed a compromise war claims bill that excludes compensation for the descendants of deceased war survivors who suffered personal injury.
But the Pacific Daily News Centre reports that Madeleine Bordallo's new bill leaves intact compensation for living survivors.
During testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in Washington, Ms Bordallo said the revised War Claims measure she is now proposing reflects a compromise reached with the Senate 2 years ago, which she rejected at that time.
She says the removal of this category will reduce the cost of Guam War Claims from an estimated 100 million US dollars, down to some 80 million US dollars.
