A well known Samoan musician, Harry Miller, who also taught music at a Catholic high school in Pago Pago, has died in hospital this week in Auckland in New Zealand.

Mr Miller was diagnosed with cancer early this year.

His wife, well known Pacific journalist Monica Miller, says her husband was able to play many genres of music, but his jazz playing was distinctive and organic.

A long time friend and fellow musician, Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde, says Mr Miller was a world-class jazz guitarist with a passion for music and a never-ending dedication to passing on his talents to young people.

Mr Miller's funeral is to be held in Auckland, where he was born.
