Sport: Matt Parish named new Toa Samoa coach

Matt Parish has been appointed the new Samoa rugby league coach, replacing Steve Price.

The Parramatta and New South Wales assistant replaces Dragons head coach Price, who has stepped down from the Toa role for a second time due to the high workload involved in coaching an NRL side.

Rugby League Samoa President Tagaloa Faafouina Su'a says they're grateful for Price's contribution to Toa Samoa over the past few years, which has included both coaching and assistance behind the scenes.

Matt Parish is currently in camp with the New South Wales State of Origin side ahead of Wednesday's third and deciding match in Sydney.

He says Samoan players have a rich history in the game of rugby league and he hopes that his experience working in the NRL, State of Origin and with the Indigenous Allstars, can help to convert that talent into results at the World Cup later this year.
