Vanuatu opposition lodges no confidence motion

5:44 pm on 10 July 2013

The Vanuatu opposition has lodged a motion for a vote of no confidence in the government of Moana Carcasses Kalosil.

Our correspondent says 29 of the 52 MPs have signed the motion.

The Speaker is still to say whether he will accept it but it could go before parliament next Wednesday.

It is the second time the opposition has tried to unseat the Carcasses government, which came to power in March after a successful motion to unseat the Sato Kilman-led administration elected last year.
