CNMI businesses to be surveyed on minimum wage impact

9:42 am on 10 September 2013

The U.S. Government Accountability Office has inititated a new survey on the impact of an increase in the minimum wage in the CNMI.

The investigative arm of the U.S. Congress has until April next year to submit its report.

Key CNMI employers, including large tourism-related businesses, should expect survey forms from the office in the coming weeks.

The survey will provide an update on the effects the minimum wage increases have had on workers and employers in the CNMI.

A 2007 federal law mandates an annual 50-cent increase in CNMI's minimum wage until it reaches the federal wage floor of $7.25 an hour.
