Samoa Govt sells 50 percent share in Forum Line to Neptune shipping

The Samoa government has sold 50 percent of shares in its Pacific Forum Line shipping company to Neptune Pacific Line.

Neptune Pacific already services a number of islands in the region.

Samoa's deputy prime, Fonotoe Pierre Nuafesili Lauofo, says the move can only benefit shipping in the region, and that

12 Pacific countries will be served under the new partnership.

He says it will also opens the door for the government to have a voice in helping bring down the cost of shipping around the region, not only for consumers but for businesses.

The deal between the Pacific Forum Line and Neptune shipping will be officially sealed at the end of this month in the signing of an agreement.
